![]() ![]() That said, if it had to be one 88 key 'board (and the PCx/S90ES were the only choices), the S90ES would be my pick. ![]() I won't even start on the Kurz Mellotron programs. The weak side of the PC1x is synth stuff, but APs, EPs, and Orchestral sounds rock. ![]() I have the Classic Keys expansion, and prefer many sounds of the PC1x over my ES7 (and the Electro. The PC1x replaced my P80, which I had to ditch a while back because of its limited MIDI functionality. it sits below an ES7 and both of those 'boards are the minimum I bring to the gig. I am very happy with my PC1x as my only weighted 88 'board. The PC1XL and PC2XL now come w/the Classic Keys ROM and the Orchestra ROM boards installed - though I don't know if it's any cheaper or not to get it that way or to get the non "XL" versions and then buy the card as an upgrade?īut anyway, is anyone using these Kurzweil 'boards on gigs? I always read posts from satisfied S90/S90ES owners - let's hear from the Kurzweil users (of the PC1X + PC2X), eh? I guess that could include the PC2R people (that's the rackmount version), but I am more interested in those that have the actual 88key keyboards. But otherwise, the sound engine is identical on the PC1X and the PC2X. The PC1X has less expansion slots and does NOT have the KB-3 modelled tone-wheel mode organ patches and can NOT expand to 128-note polyphony, which the PC2X can do (although you have to buy the 64-note poly expansion card to get there). pianos, electronic synth-type sounds, etc. We've heard from a number of owners/users of the Yamaha S90 and it's brand new successor, the S90 ES - all that own and use the S90/S90ES are completely thrilled w/it and love the sounds, action, piano samples, etc.īut are there any Kurzweil PC2X users out there - that use the PC2X live on gigs? It seems to me that the PC2X, along w/its little brother, the less expensive PC1X, is the only direct competition to the S90 - for an 88key weighted action 'board that has great acoustic piano and other acoustic instruments built-in (thus ruling out "dummy" controller keyboards that have no onboard sounds) but also has some good bread and butter gigs sounds as well - strings, horns, organs, elect. ![]()
